Father's Day Giveaway!!!

Like so many other people in the world I count my parents as two of the most fabulous people I have the pleasure of knowing, let alone being related to.  They taught me to work hard and follow my dreams and believed in my fiercely my whole life.  They showed me every single day what true love really is and are my favorite people in the world.  I had the most incredible childhood because of them and grew up with the best traits instilled in me because of the lessons they taught me.  I can never put into words how grateful I am for the life they have given me because I wouldn't be where I am and who I am today without them rooting for me and picking me up when I fell all along the way.

Last weekend without even realizing it they brought that little Orange Bird into my life and reminded me of how much magic is in my life every day! With Mother's Day having just passed a few weeks ago and Father's Day on the horizon I thought a fun family movie giveaway would be a nice way to celebrate our parents! :)

Since I love me some 80s & 90s Steve Martin, the Blu-Ray Combo Pack of Father of the Brides 1 & 2 seemed like the perfect choice!

Good luck!

PS- To get the ball rolling, one of my favorite memories with my parents is snow days where they both stayed home from work with me and my sister and brother.  My sibs and I would go outside and shovel with my Dad and we would laugh and play the whole time we were supposed to be working.  My Dad would end up dividing up the driveaway into what translated to him doing about 80% of the job and me and my sis and bro doing the rest (lol).  We would get in so much trouble but sometimes even my Dad couldn't help but laughing when we slipped, or knocked snow into eachother by accident.  Then we would go inside and my Mom would have hot cocoa ready for all 5 of us to enjoy together with mini marshmallows and we would climb out of our wet cold snow gear and warm up with rosey cheeks around the table. To this day I love warming up with hot cocoa because it brings back childhood nostalgia and my favorite is "Mickey's Famous" that you can pick up in Disney World and Disneyland gift shops! :)

  1. One of my favorite memories of my parents is the time we spent building our house when I was 6 and 7. My parents would be building while my sister, brother, and I ran around under the tarps, through the wood piles, etc. It was such a great time in my life!

    1. We used to go to Hershey Park when I was a kid and we had so much fun. I'm afraid to go back because it has changed so much I think I may disappoint myself!

  4. My favorite magical moment was when both of my parents first opened our family owned restaurant for business when I was just a little kid. It was truly a magical moment for me, that we as a family had our own (Mom & Pop) family run business! The food was great! and it gave my me, and my family a real sense of pride and accomplishment for having such a successful business for a time. The restaurant has since been sold. But the magical moment still remains after all these years! :-)

  5. Great contest and great memory Melisa Lynn! It brought back a few of my folks :-) One in particular is of me and my dad. All throughout the summer months he and I would go for long bike rides, once the sun went down and it was cooler. I learned a lot about the boy he was that shaped the man he became. My dad is very private and he lost his mama as a very young boy. Many things happened that I never knew, but on those rides he would tell me the stories. I feel it truly shaped our relationship for the better as I became an adult. Love you Daddy <3

  6. One of my favorite memories with my dad(and brother) was when we went on a road trip to Ohio. We stayed at my grandmother's house and went swimming, watched movies and I even made a new friend, it was fun :)

    1. I think seeing parents in their workplace can be so important because you get to see them for a minute as someone other than "mom" or "dad" when you see other people relying on them and showing them respect. Thats awesome!

  8. I just found your blog and I am SO happy that I did, I LOVE it! One of my favorite memories I have as a kid is having movie nights with my mom every Friday night. When we got home from school my mom would show us which movie she had rented for us (me and my sister) and the three of us would eat candy and popcorn and watch the movie together.

    1. Thanks, Jamie!
We had movie nights too! I have friends who's family didn't have that kind of activity where everyone squished on the couch or looked forward to quality time at home and I think they are missing out on some of the most special memories I was lucky enough to make- my parents always let us invite friends as we got older.

  9. One of my favourite memories of my Dad is from our second trip to WDW. We were all teenagers at the time and he was trying to impress us with his "bravery" by going on Alien Encounter. Once we were seated in the main attraction room his shoulder bar malfunctioned and wouldn't come down all of the way. He was terrified because he thought he had been "chosen" to fight off the alien. For the rest of the trip we had many laughs over Dad's" close encounter": -) He never did go back on during subsequent trips.;-) I love how Disney has the ability to bring families together in the most unexpected ways.

  10. One of my favorite memories of my mother is when we took a graduation trip to Disney World together when I graduated from high school. We left all of the family behind and it was just me and my mom....spending time together. We rode rides together and even ate at Cinderella's Castle (which was never an option when all of my brothers and sisters were with us). I wanted to watch an afternoon parade and begged my momma to sit in the heat so we could see it. We had a squirt bottle fan to cool off with and I sat spraying my mom in the rear end until she slowly realized she was wet back there...it took her forever to figure out what I had been doing!! We laughed and laughed. It was such a trip full of memories and experiences that I will never forget. We've been to Disney many times before and after that trip, but I'll always remember that time with my mom. :)
