My daughter and I were excited to throw a fun, mermaid inspired bridal shower for my sister in law. Of course it would need to have many nods to our favorite Mermaid of all...without being specifically Ariel themed. Could we pull it off? Come see!

An "Under the Sea" Mermaid theme!
Fisherman's netting is sold in most craft stores.
Paired with colored balloons it made the perfect backdrop for our main table

I took some netting, glued it around mason jars, then wrapped the tops with hemp (hot glued on).
Tiny signs for forks (dinglehoppers), knives (whosits) and spoons (whatsits) evoked our favorite Little Mermaid!

My daughter painted a mermaid for the guest book. We placed it on our main table with ink and wipes for people to finger print "sign" her tail. Her tail filled up with beautiful "scales!" What a great keepsake for mama!

Mini bubbles were our cute party favors. I tied a card on each with a beautiful image found on Pinterest reading: "We got no troubles, life is the bubbles under the sea." I printed the date and shower details on the other side.

This easy to make octopus was the star of our "Under the Sea" gift room!
All we needed was a balloon, some cardstock, and pink streamers. We used constructions paper for our school of fish (below) and green ribbon and streamers by the fireplace became our seaweed!

Our cake was a small layer cake but these Nemo inspired cupcakes stole the show!

Simple sugar cookies (not pictures) with 5 sliced almonds placed on top to look like sand dollars were gone so fast I didn't get a picture.
The cute little Nilla wafer clams above were so easy to make!

The fun thing about a Mermaid theme is that it is very versatile. It can be used for a baby shower, a birthday party or even a fun outdoor summer soiree! With your imagination the sky's or in this case ...the sea's your limit!
