More About Iwerks:
Leslie Iwerks is a third generation "Disney family" member. She is the grand daughter of Disney Legend Ub Iwerks. Iwerks and Walt Disney were just 18 years old when they met and turned their passion for animation and filmmaking into history making wonders. Leslie's father is Don Iwerks who's new book Walt Disney's Ultimate Inventor: The Genius of Ub Iwerks was just released on 12/10/19. The book is the perfect companion to further explore some of the wonders you will see in the Imagineering Story.
I will have more on the book for you as soon as I can put it down long enough to write up a review. In the meantime here's a teaser of what's in store for your reading pleasure.

Walt Disney's Ultimate Inventor: The Genius of Ub Iwerks:
Walt Disney's Ultimate Inventor: The Genius of Ub Iwerks highlights Iwerks' contribution to the Disney company including the innovative effects in Disney films and theme parks. Some of the marvels covered include:
- The ‘Sodium Traveling Matte Process- Allowed Mary Popins to pop into a chalk drawing. It also allowed The Birds to attack in Alfred Hitchcock’s classic
- Circle-Vision/Circarama- Disneyland/WDW films that shot 360 degrees, using nine cameras. This technology gave millions the most realistic view of places around the world for the first time.
- Adapting early Xerox technology for film- This enabled animator drawings to be printed directly onto cels, saving hours of production on films like 101 Dalmatians and also saving Disney Animation from closing.
Holiday break is just starting and I'm looking forward to putting my feet up, grabbing some tea and watching more episodes of The Imagineering Story and finishing Walt Disney's Ultimate Inventor: The Genius of Ub Iwerks. I wish the same luxury to all you, my Disney friends! Happy Holidays.
